Moldova's Constitutional Court validates presidential elections

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Constitutional Court (CCM) has validated the results of the presidential elections from 15 November.
At a today’s meeting, the constitutional judges validated the result of the presidential polls from 15 November 2020. Thus, Maia Sandu is officially declared President of the Republic of Moldova.
„The Constitutional Court ruled to confirm the elections from 15 November 2020 and validate the election of Maia Sandu in the office of President of Moldova. The present ruling is final and cannot be subjected to any appeal and enters into force on the date of publication,’’ CCM President Domnica Manole said.
Under the legislation, the candidate whose election was validated is to take oath before the parliament and the Constitutional Court 45 days after the elections at the latest.
The exercising of the mandate of Moldova’s President starts actually on the day of taking the oath, according to the Central Electoral Commission.
President-elect Maia Sandu said that the ceremony on swearing in office would take place on 24 December 2020.
