Education ministry orders completion of school tests, learning remotely from 21 December

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) ordered that the process of applying summative assessments to primary, secondary and high school subjects be completed on December 14-18, in compliance with the provisions of the assessment Regulation and the Instruction on ensuring special conditions for the organization of semester theses in high school education under COVID-19.
Also, on December 14-24, 2020, extracurricular activities will be suspended within the institutions and will take place only remotely.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research encourages the heads of general secondary education institutions to identify the most relevant topics and educational resources available for organizing the nominated activities.
The decisions of the Ministry of Education were taken based on the evolution of the epidemiological situation and the increased risk of transmitting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. According to the latest data of MECC, this week 27 general education institutions and 496 classes in the country were working remotely due to quarantine. The number of students tested positive with COVID-19 is 520, and 13017 were placed in self-isolation. 624 teachers have been confirmed positive with the new coronavirus and 575 are in isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 140 people were infected with the new virus, and another 245 are in self-isolation.
