National Bank of Moldova recommends banks to refrain from paying dividends

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- The National Bank of Moldova /BNM / recommended to the licensed banks to continue to refrain from distributing dividends to shareholders and repurchases of equity instruments, until the presentation by the audit companies of the audited financial statements for the end of 2020.

According to the BNM press service, the decision was taken to ensure the stability and viability of licensed banks in the context of the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic manifested during the current year and the precarious prospects of pandemic expansion.

At the same time, ensuring an adequate level of own funds and liquid assets, in the conditions of promoting an adequate risk management policy, will allow the licensed banks to maintain the lending of the real economy, the National Bank said.
