16 schools, 398 classes in Moldova working remotely due to quarantine

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/- On 11 December 16 general education institutions and 398 classes in the country are working remotely due to quarantine. The number of pupils tested positive with COVID-19 is 504, and 10921 were placed under self-isolation.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), 673 teachers have been confirmed positive with the new coronavirus and 417 are in isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 149 people were infected with the new virus, and another 179 are in self-isolation.

In technical vocational education, on 7- 11 December, 32 students tested positive for the Sars-Cov-2 virus, 22 - teachers and 8 - non-teaching and auxiliary staff were registered. Also, 46 groups of students are placed under self-isolation.

In higher education, on 7- 11 December, there are 27 students tested positive for Covid-19, and 116 are in self-isolation. 22 teachers were positively confirmed with the new coronavirus, and there are 20 in self-isolation. Of the non-teaching and auxiliary staff, 21 people were infected, and 17 are in self-isolation.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research called on school managers, teachers and students to continue to comply with all measures to protect against COVID-19 virus.

Following an approach by MECC, the National Commission for Public Health decided that on 21-24 December in all educational institutions in primary, secondary and high school, the classes will be held remotely. The decision was made in the context of the constant worsening of the epidemiological situation in the country.
