Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova, Poland holds session

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - The sixth Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland started its works in online regime today, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.    

The meeting was chaired by the two co-chairpersons of the Parliamentary Assembly – MP Chiril Motpan and Deputy Marshall of the Sejm (parliament) of Poland Ryszard Terlecki.     

Attending the event on behalf of Moldova are also the members of the Moldovan parliament’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland, Oleg Lipskii, Adrian Lebedinschi, Eufrosina Gretu, Igor Himici, Octavian Ticu, Dumitru Alaiba.   

In his greeting speech, the co-chairman of the Assembly on behalf of Poland, Ryszard Terlecki, said that the today’s meeting was quite important for planning the subsequent cooperation of the two countries’ lawmakers.

According to Deputy Marshall of the Polish Sejm, the old historical relations between Poland and Moldova, as well as the ones from the last years have been very good and it is important to develop them in continuation.  

Ryszard Terlecki emphasized that Poland would always back the rapprochement between the two countries and the foundation of the bilateral relations would be the commercial and economic ties, cooperation in the agro-industrial, vine-growing and wine-making sectors, tourism field, etc.    

The MP urged Moldova to take advantage of the opportunities of cooperation provided within the Three Seas Initiative, especially as regards the traditions, culture, national identity.  

The c-chairman on the Assembly on behalf of Moldova, Chiril Motpan, welcomed the resumption of the work of the Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland after a two-year break. On this period, more issues due to be discussed, including at the today’s meeting, have been accumulated.

The lawmaker stressed that Moldova paid special attention to the Moldovan-Polish parliamentary cooperation and the Moldovan authorities appreciated the support provided for Moldova’s European integration, development assistance, contribution to adjusting the national legislation to the European Union’s one.   

Poland is a reliable partner of Moldova, including within international organizations, being one of the initiators of the Eastern Partnership – important platform for developing the relations, bilaterally, regionally and at the European level, Chiril Motpan stressed.            

The Moldova – Poland Parliamentary Assembly is an inter-parliamentary consultative body, made up in order to work out joint points of views as to projects which represent objects of bilateral interest. The Assembly holds plenary sessions once per year, alternatively, in Poland and Moldova. The last meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly took place in Chisinau on 23-24 July 2018.   

The Parliamentary Assembly of Moldova and Poland was set up in July 2011.

At the same time, the group of friendship with Poland works in Moldova’s parliament, made up of 36 MPs and is led by lawmaker Oleg Lipskii.
