Moldovan government to provide one-off allowances worth 16,000 lei to more categories of public sector employees

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - More than 60 million lei will be allocated by the government for providing one-off allowances worth 16,000 lei for the public sector employees, who were infected with COVID-19 while fulfilling their job duties. A draft law to this end was approved at a today’s cabinet meeting, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„It is about the allocation of a single allocation of 16,000 lei for almost 3,750 people employed at state institutions, in the medical sector, police, local public authorities, etc., who were infected with this virus,’’ PM Ion Chicu said.

According to data unveiled by the Finance Ministry, about 20 million lei will be distributed to the employees from the health system; another about 8 million lei will go for the Interior Ministry employees, who got the infection at the working place.

The financial means will be earmarked from the reserve fund and intervention fund for 2020.
