Moldovan foreign affairs ministers has meeting with Ambassador of Austria

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today received in audience Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Stella Avallone. The diplomats reviewed the bilateral Moldovan-Austrian relations, cooperation in the context of Moldova’s European integration agenda, as well as the Transnistrian conflict settlement, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.   

In the context of the carrying out of the agreements reached at a phone conversation between the Chisinau and Vienna diplomacy heads, the sides stressed both countries’ interests in deepening the bilateral cooperation through the holding of inter-ministerial political consultations in early 2021.  

Aureliu Ciocoi thanked the Austrian authorities for the consistent support provided to Moldova‘s European integration, both in the political field and through substantial technical and financial assistance, provided to Moldova through the Austrian Development Cooperation. The assistance projects implemented in Moldova contribute to the improvement of the living standards of the citizens and the country’s modernization.  

The diplomats referred to the Transnistrian settlement process; in this respect, the foreign affairs minister highlighted the expertise of Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, special representatives of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office. The sides voiced hope that the outstanding Austrian diplomat would continue his mandate during the organization’s Swedish chairmanship as well.
