Carabineers likely to take over task of restoring public order

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate of Carabineers will gradually move to military service on a contract basis until 31 December 2021. A draft amendment to this legislation was approved today by the National Security, Defense and Public Order Committee.
Under the draft, the tasks related to ensuring public order at meetings, cultural-sports events and other similar activities will pass from the competence of the police to that of the carabineers starting with 1 January 2022.
The legislative initiative belongs to a group of PSRM deputies and is to be debated in the plenary session of the parliament.
