Chisinau budget for 2021 as most ambitious in history - economic expert says

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/- The Chisinau budget for 2021 is "the most ambitious budget in the history of the capital", which "breaks the paradigm of budget construction so far", says expert Veaceslav Ionita.

The expert states that the Chisinau budget for 2021 differs from all other budgets approved and executed by planned expenditures, deficit, development loans and investment program.

According to Ioniță, an essential difference of the Chisinau municipality's budget for 2021 is the increase of 1.3 billion lei in budget expenditures. "It is the largest planned increase in the capital's history, 2.4 times more than the largest increases recorded in the last two years," said the expert.

Another difference observed by the economic expert is related to the budget deficit. "For 2021, budget expenditures are planned to be almost 22% higher than budget revenues," Ioniță said.

According to Ioniță, we are currently witnessing a new stage of local development in the Republic of Moldova: development loans.

The draft budget for 2021 of Chisinau provides revenues of 4.66 billion lei, including transfers from the state budget 2.64 billion lei and expenditures of 5.95 billion lei. The expected deficit is 1.28 billion lei.

"The deficit is due to the projects we will implement, the purchase of buses and the extension of two streets", Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said.

At the same time, the mayor said that the deficit will be covered by municipal taxes, from where over one hundred million lei will be collected, as well as other municipal activities.
