Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - Four Interior Ministry (MAI) employees were injured and were carried to hospital in the wake of clashes which took place at the protest rally outside the parliament building today.
According to the police, a criminal file was opened on the infringements committed by the participants in the protest and contravention procedures were started on the violation of the provisions of the road traffic regulation.
The quoted source said that the protest action in the centre of Chisinau had started outside the government building at 10:00 and at a certain time, a group of participants in the protest, driving tractors, left the place of the rally, crossed the green turf from the Cathedral Park and moved on the pedestrian road.
„Although they were summoned to cease the illegal actions, they continued to move up to the Moldovan parliament building, where some of the protesters broke the cordon of policemen and started clashes with law-enforcement bodies; at the same time, the protesters with the agricultural machines moved on stairs from the parliament’s square,’’ a press release by the police reads.
Farmers protest outside the parliament building at present too. They are against the increase in the value added tax from 8 to 12 per cent and they demand more support from the government for overcoming the consequences of the drought.
