Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers of the factions of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Dignity and Truth Platform and Democratic Party (PDM) lodged a motion of censure against the Chicu Government at the today’s parliament meeting. The motion’s signatories accuse the cabinet of bad management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The document, signed by 34 MPs, was registered and will be considered according to the legislation.
”This is a justified motion, expected by the society, as everybody understand that we need another government, we need snap elections, a parliament cleaned of party switchers. The Chicu Government, sworn in office in November 2019, lamentably failed in the process of attenuating the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis. Any extra day with this government in office means less chances for solving the sanitary, economic and social crisis in which Moldova sinks,‘’ the motion text’s reads.
Immediately after the motion had been read in parliament, the signatory MPs said they walked out of the session hall.
Under the legal provisions, the motion of censure on the government’s work can be initiated by at least one fourth of the number of lawmakers elected and is to be discussed on the first day of plenary meeting of the week next to the date of the motion’s submission.
