Moldovan cabinet takes measures for enhancing security at working place

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The government approved the minimum requirements of security and health for the use by employees of individual protection equipment (IPE) at the working place. The decision’s goal is to enhance the security of the employees who work in noxious and dangerous working conditions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The employer will be obliged to select and provide IPE to employees, after assessing the circumstances and risk situations to which they are exposed. Also, the employer will be obliged to elaborate instructions on the use of equipment and put them at the disposal of employees free of charge.
At the same time, the government approved the ratification of the International Labour Convention No 161 on the occupational health services. The document provides for the implementation of a string of mechanisms due to contribute to the improvement of the legislation in the labour sector.
They will have the goals to identify and evaluate the risks of employees’ exposure at the working place; monitor the environment factors and the production operations which might affect their health; participate in the process of consideration and analysis of labour accidents and professional diseases; assimilate the practices of providing the first aid and emergency medical assistance and rehabilitation of people sick with professional pathologies, etc.
The agreement will enter into force 12 months after the date of registration of the instrument on ratification of the Geneva International Treaty.
