Parliament adopts law on functioning of languages spoken in Moldova in final reading

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The law on the functioning of the languages spoken on the territory of Moldova was adopted in the final reading with the votes of 55 lawmakers today. The parliamentary opposition MPs boycotted the today’s plenary meeting.
At the rostrum, Deputy Parliament Speaker Vladimir Vitiuc said that this document ‘’does not divide the society, but on the contrary, contributes to a better social understanding and cohesion.’’
Also, the lawmakers stressed the need of studying the state language, which is important for unity in the society and consolidation of the society.
The document voted today has been earlier criticized by the parliament’s opposition.
