Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today held a meeting to consider 18 drafts on the agenda, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu demanded information for Interior Minister Pavel Voicu on the consequences of farmers’ protesters, carried out in the centre of Moldova’s capital today.
According to the minister, the protesters illegally parked eight tractors outside the parliament building, ignoring the summons by the law-enforcers. Thus, four carabineers were injured in the wake of protesters’ illegal actions, were taken by the ambulance for medical care. Two criminal files were opened on farmers’ actions.
PM Chicu asked institutions of public order to take all measures necessary to ensure the security of citizens and employees of these institutions. ‘’I do not thing that, in the protest authorization, these protesters received permission to get on the parliament’s stairs with their tractors. Especially as these tractors were bought with the taxes paid including by policemen, teachers, physicians, culture people. Please, take care of policemen’s health and do not allow anybody being ran over by tractors,’’ the prime minister said.
Ion Chicu noted that the 2020 year had been a record year as to the sum of state budget allocations for farmers, which exceeded 1.280 billion lei. ‘’Never before in Moldova’s history, even in much better years than this one, so much money was allocated from people’s taxes. I do not believe that our society further wants us to take money from teachers and physicians and give them to agricultural leaders,’’ the PM also said.
At the same time, the prime minister voiced hope that the budgetary and fiscal laws would be voted by the MPs in final reading on the days to come. ‘’We hope to reach the conscience of all lawmakers to understand how important it is to approve these budgets. In parallel, it is necessary that we work for elaborating the secondary normative framework, the government decisions which enforce them,’’ Ion Chicu stressed.
Referring to the official ceremony of Moldovan President’s swearing in office, scheduled for 24 December, PM Ion Chicu said that the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission today had issued a special decision on a string of sanitary and epidemiological measures needed to be observed at the event’s organization. ‘’This is a quite important event for the country. I ask the colleagues from the State Chancellery, Palace of the Republic to ensure the observance of this decision with all sanitary and epidemiological rigours,’’ Ion Chicu specified.
