More companies GLOBAL.G.A.P certified to expand sales on European market

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP certificates have allowed producers in our country to expand the presence of Moldovan fruits and grapes on the shelves of store chains in various EU member states, such as France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, where the standards are required. The results this year encouraged another 26 manufacturers to implement GLOBALG.A.P standards with the support of a US-supported project.
Thus, the support of domestic producers in the USAID High Value Agriculture in Moldova confirms the observance by agricultural households of food safety requirements and social responsibility.
Requirements for GLOBAG.A.P. refers to the production process, from the selection of agricultural land to the delivery of fruits and vegetables on the market by confirming the minimum effects on the environment, reducing chemicals used and a responsible approach to workers' health and safety etc., assuring the buyer that fruits and vegetables vegetables are safe to eat.
GLOBAG.A.P. standards are implemented in Moldova for over 15 years, and GRASP standards - three years. So far, more than 70 farmers have implemented GLOBALG.A.P. standards, of which 53 have benefited from USAID / APM assistance in implementing the requirements.
According to statistics, plum exports to the EU have increased since 2016 by about eight thousand tons to over 22 thousand tons of plums exported in 2020. Also, the geography of Moldovan plum importing countries has expanded over the same period from 18 to 22 countries. At the same time, the export of table grapes to the EU is increasing.
