Moldovan foreign minister attends presentation event of Global Human Development Report 2020

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi participated today in regional event in videoconference format to present the Global Human Development Report 2020, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The international conference with the participation of UNDP administrator Achim Steiner, brought together the interventions of President of Northern Macedonia, Prime Minister of Ukraine, ministers of Moldova, Georgia and Serbia and well-known experts in human development. The implications of the Human Development Report for the Western Balkans, Turkey and the countries of Eastern Europe and the Southern Caucasus were discussed at the event.

Ciocoi said that according to the report's conclusions, Moldova is mentioned as an example of a state with significant socio-economic progress and at the same time, a state with relatively limited carbon emissions. He pointed out the importance of turning to good account issues related to the economic recovery after the crisis generated by COVID-19.

He also presented the importance of the concept of sustainable human development in terms of vulnerabilities and the complexity of the challenges faced by Moldova in the development process. In this regard, the way in which the sustainable human development approach is able to respond to these constraints was presented, the results achieved at national level, as well as the global implications were mentioned.

He conveyed congratulations on launch of the comprehensive analytical exercise and thanked the United Nations Development Program for support in achieving the sustainable development goals of Moldova.
