Japan to provide grants for six social projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/- Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Katayama Yoshihiro and representatives of six beneficiary institutions from our country have recently signed grant contracts for financing projects under the Human Security Grant Program Kusanone for fiscal year 2020 amounting to 511273 dollars.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Chisinau, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has approved several projects for funding. Among them is the project for the improvement of the educational environment at kindergarten No7 in Rascani worth 90909 dollars; improvement of the educational environment at the Gymnasium in Mereșeni village, Hâncești district worth 90909 dollars.

Also, Japan will support the project for the modernization of medical equipment at the Clinical Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics in Chisinau worth 90,909 dollars; modernization of the medical equipment at the Municipal Clinical Hospital Gheorghe Paladi in Chisinau - 86,617 dollars; improvement of the educational environment at the Olimp Theoretical High School in Puhăceni village, Anenii Noi district - 61,020 dollars; improvement of the educational environment at the Theoretical High School Dimitrie Cantemir in Cahul - 90,909 dollars.

The Kusanone program was launched in Moldova in 2008. In 2008-2020, Japan provided non-reimbursable funding worth over 5.3 million dollars for 65 projects (excluding the six above-mentioned grants), most of which being in public health and education.

"Improving medical services and creating best conditions for education remain among Japan's main priorities in Moldova, and the six grants are another sign of friendship from the Japanese people," said Katayama Yoshihiro.
