Moldovan speaker conveys congratulatory message to National Police

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii sent a congratulatory message today on the 30th anniversary of the National Police of the Republic of Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The message reads:
"On 18 December 1990, the Moldovan Parliament adopted the Law on Police. Thus, the National Police started its activity, following an extensive process of restructuring and modernization of internal affairs bodies.
Turning to good account the inherited traditions, in the three decades the National Police has accumulated vast experience and created new values in vocational training, based on democratic principles, the primacy of fundamental human rights.
The process of reform and modernization continues. A project has been submitted to the Parliament, which provides for the organization of the territorial subdivisions of the Police. Its adoption will provide more effective levers to fight crime and maintain law and order in all parts of the country. In this way we want to facilitate the work of police officers and to offer citizens a modern, efficient and responsive police. The increase of the degree of credibility of the citizens towards the Police is a proof of the effectiveness of the promoted reforms, consistent and persevering efforts in defending human rights, ensuring public order, fight against crime.
On behalf of the Moldovan Parliament and on my own behalf, I would like to assure the employees of the Police of our respect for the important, necessary and difficult activity. Despite the threats to their life and health, the security of their family, the "soldiers of the rule of law" remain faithful to the oath of devotion to the country, defending the interests and authority of the state of the Republic of Moldova.
In this context, I congratulate the police officers from all over the country and I wish them professional success, respect from the citizens, safe service.
