Two cities of Moldova to benefit from Japanese investments for projects in environmental protection sector

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - A pre-feasibility study will be worked out in the Chisinau and Balti municipalities for the analysis of the air quality indicators, treatment of residual waters and waste management, as well as to establish priorities of medium-term assistance. Subsequently, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) might provide investments necessary for solving problems in the aforementioned sectors.
The subject today was considered by representatives of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM), jointly with JICA experts.
The sides agreed on setting priorities of medium-term assistance on behalf of JICA, on MADRM’s role in the process of coordination and supervision of the prefeasibility study and discussed a string of projects eligible for financing.
The pre-feasibility study will be carried out on the period December 2020 – June 2021. The Environment Agency, Inspectorate for Labour Protection, State Hydrometeorological Service, local public authorities of the of the Chisinau and Balti cities, private enterprises, etc. will participate in the study’s elaboration. The competent institutions will benefit from consultancy on behalf of Japanese experts, in order to identify the best solutions to improve the environment’s quality.
