Park from southern Moldova city renovated with EU's support

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Grigore Vieru central park from the southern Cahul city is renovated with the European Union’s assistance. The works on the reconstruction of the park, with an overall area of six hectares, started in last August and are to be completed in the summer of 2021.
The work is carried out by the EU4Moldova Programme: Key Regions, financed and strategically guided by EU, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The Cahul city hall co-finances the works for the park’s restoration.
„The investment worth 372,525 euros is provided from European Union’s funds and the city hall contributed 105,455 euros, ‘’ UNDP sources said.
The renovation of the Grigore Vieru Park is one of the activities of modernization of the Cahul municipality’s centre, started by the EU4Moldova Programme: Key Regions. The process of modernization is participatory, people coming with ideas on transformation of their city’s centre.
The EU4Moldova Programme: Key Regions (2019-2024) supports the intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social and economic development in the Cahul and Ungheni regions, in order to provide citizens with a better life quality. The programme has a budget of 23 million euros. This is the first infrastructure project started in the Cahul municipality with the financial assistance of the aforementioned programme; other works on the city’s modernization will be launched in the next years.
