Moldovan government comes up with increased allowances for war veterans, their spouses

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers has come up with additional measures of social protection through the increase in the quantum of state social allowance for some categories of people, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, the participants in the combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence, as well as the people participating in the combat actions in Afghanistan and in other states will receive a monthly support worth 500 lei, up by 200 lei than at present.
„The draft sees the increase in the quantum of these allowances for more categories; here, I want to highlight, first of all, the increase in the allowances for veterans, which on 1 January 2020 was exactly five-fold lower than it will be on 1 January 2021. So, we have increased this allowance five-fold for the veterans who defended the integrity and independence of Moldova,’’ Prime Minister Ion Chicu said.
The people with disabilities in the wake of the war, including following the Chernobyl accident, will receive allowances higher by 100 lei: from 700, 550 and 475 to 800, 650 and, respectively, 575 lei.
At the same time, the people who were awarded orders and medals for assiduous labour and impeccable military service in the rear of the front during the World War II will receive 275 lei monthly, by 100 lei more than at present.
The spouses of the participants in the World War II and in the combat actions in peaceful times, who died while fulfilling the duties, of the people with disabilities in the wake of war, who died, of the participants in the Chernobyl accident relief works, who died, will benefit from doubled monthly allowance, worth 500 lei.
Another document approved today sees that this category of people will also benefit from the right to be provided once in three years treatment tickets at rehabilitation centres, no matter whether they are unable to work or not. At the same time, the condition of being unmarried is excluded. The additional necessary spending for the fulfillment of this proposal is of 752.1 thousand lei annually, for 307 people.
At the same time, the draft provides for giving the right to state monthly allocation worth 700 lei to people involved by local power bodies in the collection of ammunitions and military technology, in demining areas and objects in the years of the World War II.
