Official Journal publishes decision on Moldovan-Russian agreement on social security

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/- The government's decision on administrative arrangement on applying the agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation on social security was published in the Official Journal on 23 December. The document is to be signed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

According to the decision, the role of the administrative arrangement is to set up conditions and procedures for cooperation and communication between the authorities and institutions of the states parties for the implementation of the agreement. Thus, the way of exchanging the forms, documents and information necessary for establishing the right to social insurance benefits to the entitled persons is provided.

The provisions of the agreement create favorable conditions for migrants from the Republic of Moldova to return to the country, because upon reaching retirement age they will be able to benefit from social security rights acquired in the Russian Federation. Respectively, the persons, receiving a pension from one or both states will have several sources of existence.

When establishing and calculating the pension, each state will apply the national legislation in the field. Both the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation will calculate and pay the pension only for the insurance periods completed on their territory, by applying the principle of proportionality.
