Moldova, Romania to have joint police teams in border area

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/- The National Inspectorate of Public Security of the General Inspectorate of Police, in partnership with Vaslui Police Inspectorate will create joint patrol teams in the Moldovan-Romanian border area. The actions will take place within the project Development of a concept of joint patrol of roads in the border area between Moldova - Romania, funded under the Joint Operational Program Romania - Republic of Moldova 2014-2020.
The joint teams will ensure the increase of the police presence on the roads connecting the border area and the recreation areas and increase of the activity in the prevention of traffic contraventions and accidents, as well as other types of crimes with cross-border impact.
The grant contract was signed on 2 November 2020, and the project implementation period is 18 months and will end on 1 May 2021. The total value of the project is 330 thousand euros. The project partners benefit from a non-reimbursable financing of 90% (297 thousand euros) from the European Union and contribute 10% (33 thousand euros) of the budget to the implementation of the project, thus the non-reimbursable amount within the Project for the activities of the National Inspectorate of Public Security is 195020.00 euros, and for Vaslui Police Inspectorate - 134980.00 euros.
