Moldovan sparkling wines awarded 11 medals at specialized contest in France

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has got 11 medals, of which one golden medal and ten silver ones, at the 18th issue of the most important contest of sparkling wines titled, Effervescents du Monde. The contest was held in the French region Burgundy, on 15-18 December.
„The result recorded by the wines brought together under the brand, The Wine of Moldova. A Living Legend, is remarkable, in conditions when our country managed to outrun Italy and Spain – countries with wine-making traditions – in terms of medals. They got by 10 (3 golden and 7 silver ones) and respectively, 9 distinctions,’’ according to the National Office of Vine and Wine.
The golden medal was awarded to the Cricova winery for the sparkling wine Pinot Noir Extra Brut White and those ten medals were shared by Cricova, Purcari, Milestii Mici, Maurt, Consalcom and Alianta-Vin.
At this issue, Moldova competed with 26 samples of sparkling wines from nine wineries, the participation of which was possible due to the financial support provided by the National Office of Vine and Wine. Nineteen countries participated in Effervescents du Monde – 2020 with 479 wine samples. They were appreciated by over 80 experts of France, as well as from other states. Thirty five golden medals and 115 silver ones were awarded at the contest.
Moldova participated in the competition for the third year in a row and in 2019, Moldovan sparkling wines were awarded one golden medal and 8 silver ones, after reaching a record of 12 medals (2 golden and 10 silver medals) in 2018.
