Chisinau Municipal Council votes capital's budget for 2021

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today approved the budget for 2021 in two readings.

The draft on the budget of the Chisinau municipality for 2021, which provides for the adjusting of local taxes, as well as other subjects, was approved by 28 municipal councilors today. A string of proposals coming from the municipal factions are contained in this draft. Among the amendments, there is the providing of a one-off allowance to the employees of the municipality’s public administration – a proposal voted by all municipal factions.

At the same time, after more hours of discussions, the municipal councilors of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Action and Solidarity Party and Liberal Party left the meeting of CMC, reasoning that a string of amendments are not contained in the draft budget.

The draft budget for 2021 sees revenues worth 4.66 billion lei, of which 2.64 billion lei represent transfers from the state budget and expenses amounting to 5.95 billion lei. The deficit scheduled is of 1.28 billion lei. According to the provisions contained in the draft budget, a part of this deficit is to be covered from the increase of taxes.
