Chisinau, 5 January /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition titled, La pas prin Chișinăul secolului XX, (Walking in Chisinau of the 20th Century) was inaugurated at the National History Museum of Moldova on 4 January.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the museum’s deputy director, Marian Vasilache, said that Chisinau was, undoubtedly, a city of contrasts. A settlement which exists between ‘’has been’’ and ‘’is’’ ‘’We acutely experience this contrast, we see and experiment it every day and its architecture is deeply marked by the switch from old to new, which is witness and the principal indicator of the change,’’ Vasilache noted.
”This exhibition is a challenge for all of us to rediscover Chisinau in times when we pay so little time to beauty. This is an invitation to a walk on the streets of the former times, with memories about known or forgotten aspects, about places full of history or emotions. And, as any place which tends to validate its authentic things through culture, Chisinau presently, maybe more than ever, needs the exercise of memory, in order to survive and develop,’’ Mariana Vasilache added.
In 2021, the National History Museum of Moldova launches a string of events dedicated to the 585th anniversary of the first documented mention of Chisinau. The exhibition will be open till 31 January.
