Moldovan president has phone conversation with NATO Secretary General

Chisinau, 5 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Maia Sandu thanked Mr. Stoltenberg for many years of support and partnership with Moldova, including for the assistance of medical equipment, in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 infection. President Maia Sandu said that, including as a result of the cooperation with NATO, Moldova had gradually managed to consolidate its foreign partnerships, initiate the reform of the security sector and start the process of national army’s modernization.
„I emphasized my priorities as president, especially the fight against corruption, as well as the commitment to take all efforts to edify a safe state for citizens, as well as predictable internationally.
I noted that Moldova needs both an active foreign policy and concrete cooperation projects with our foreign partners. The role of these partnerships is to bring benefits to Moldova’s citizens, to strengthen the state’s institutions, so that Moldova becomes a democratic state, with functional institutions and a stability factor in the region,’’ Maia Sandu said.
