Moldovan president meets ANI head

Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu had a meeting yesterday with the head of the National Integrity Authority, Rodica Antoci.

The sides approached issues faced by ANI and steps due to be taken to make the institution fully operational. Sandu asked about the situation on controls initiated regarding the high officials and why it lasts so long. Also, she asked why the activity is not prioritized so that firstly high-ranking dignitaries are investigated and only then mayors and other civil servants.

"I emphasized that citizens' expectations to ANI are legitimate, namely the people demand that the institution carry out quickly and efficiently the verification of the assets of the high-ranking dignitaries towards whom there are suspicions. I said that as president, I will support ANI's capacity-building initiatives and facilitate inter-institutional dialogue, so that ANI truly fulfills its mission to the citizens - preventing corruption and ensuring integrity among officials and civil servants," Maia Sandu said.
