Anti-COVID-19 vaccination to start in Moldova in next February

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - The process of vaccination against COVID-19 will start in early next February. The first doses are to be brought to Moldova in the end of January, according to a state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Tatiana Zatic, who held a news conference on the matter today.     

According to the official, following consultations with international organizations in the health sector, which started in last summer, ‘’Moldova was approved as country which will have access to the anti-Covid vaccines.’’

Tatiana Zatic noted that, to carry out the vaccination process, the competent ministry had approved a national plan of anti-COVID-19 immunization. ‘’The plan is to be implemented with the observance of all needed sanitary norms, as well as protocols approved internationally,’’ she said.     

The vaccination against coronavirus will be made in three phases. Under the immunization plan, in the first phase, the employees of the medical and sanitary, as well as social assistance institutions will be vaccinated. The elderly people, persons with comorbidities, employees of the education sector, law-enforcement and law-maintenance structures will be vaccinated in the second stage. The general population, no matter the age, which was not included in the first two stages, will be immunized in the third phase.  

Moldova’s citizens will benefit from the Pfizer vaccine, which will be free of charge for all Moldovan residents. The authorities will buy the vaccines from the government’s funds, as a result of bilateral negotiations, donations, etc.
