Moldova's National Library to mark National Culture Day

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Culture Day has been marked in Moldova since 2013 on 15 January, on the birthday of great poet Mihai Eminescu. The holiday’s goal is promote the authentic cultural values and personalities from the culture sector. In the context, the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) organizes a string of cultural events.
According to BNRM director Elena Pintilei, the schedule of this day comprises the inauguration of an exhibition of documents and publications from the Library’s collections titled, Outstanding personalities of the national history and culture.
The exhibition has over 300 titles of documents, appeared during time, which show the live and work of outstanding personalities of the national history and culture, who are paid homage in 2021 and who distinguished themselves through inestimable contribution to the development and promotion of the national culture.
The second cultural event is titled, National Calendar – encyclopedia of the nation’s personalities, which will take place with the participation of personalities of the national culture, who are paid homage this year.
Conceived as an encyclopedic year book, the work comprises bibliographic notes about the most remarkable personalities from the science, culture and art fields of Moldova and abroad. The calendar has 535 pages and comprises over 375 articles about personalities of Moldova and from abroad, of whom about 150 personalities in the culture field.
The third event will be the inauguration of an exhibition titled, Mihai Eminescu – fundamental myth of culture. Circa 120 documents from BNRM collections about the work and personality of Eminescu, works in the sectors of science, politics, social and philosophy problems are exhibited.
