CNA detained policeman from Anenii-Noi for bribery

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/- An officer of Anenii-Noi Police Inspectorate was detained by CNA officers, after he was denounced by a man from whom he allegedly asked for 11,000 lei to help him solve a search case.

According to CNA, the lawman allegedly claimed to have influence over officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which could lead him to allow the declarant's wife, announced in the search, to enter the country unhindered.

A criminal investigation was launched on him for influence peddling. If found guilty, he faces up to seven years in prison.

CNA statistics show that in 2020, 43 MAI employees were criminally investigated by CNA and prosecutors, being suspected of committing acts of corruption.
