Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu delivered a speech today in front of diplomatic staff representatives, meeting in zoom on the occasion of Diplomate's Day. She assured them of all her support and urged them to mobilize all resources to promote the country's image, as well as local products.
The head of state came before the diplomats together with acting prime minister Aureliu Ciocoi, who announced that it is a premiere when the entire body of diplomats participates in a meeting with the head of state.
"This year I want to start a new page in the history of the Republic of Moldova. You know very well that foreign policy starts with internal realities. For many years you had to represent a country that was only talked about badly. You cannot have an effective and credible foreign policy if the politicians at home are corrupt, if they offer each other money in their pockets. The pursuit of some diplomatic selfies has written pages of shame for our country. My priority as president is to keep order in the country, at home. We will need maximum synchronization between domestic and foreign policy. We must develop a foreign policy in the interest of the citizen. It is important to promote the products of our country. We must make a constant effort to improve the promotion of our exports. No state has managed to become stable and prosperous without skillful and efficient diplomacy," she said.
She asked diplomats to support her in promoting relations with neighbors, which have been blocked for several years. "Most of you are career diplomats and you know how to do your job with dedication. Obviously, to achieve these ambitious goals, we need a functional MAEIE. I assure you that you also have the support of the citizens, who do not want a state with conflict outside and eaten away by corruption inside. A hard time is going to be, but please try to mobilize new resources. You have my full support as president to come up with innovative ideas, how we can more effectively promote the country's image, how we can be more connected to the international community ", she said.
