Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/- The first day of President Maia Sandu's official visit to Brussels ended with a meeting with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked him that the European Union has always been with Moldovan citizens, and assured him that she is determined to end the isolation from the EU, in which our country has been in recent years.
"This isolation was caused by some politicians in Chisinau, who decided to sacrifice the country's interest in their own and violated the interest of millions of fellow citizens for their own corrupt interests. This stage has ended, and the Republic of Moldova can resume its natural path of rapprochement with the European family ", Sandu said.
"We are a European people, with a European vocation and a European future. However, this future can only be created by us, through the things we do at home - through the fight against corruption, through continuous work to modernize the country, by defending the values of democracy and the rule of law and building Europe at home," Maia Sandu said.
