Moldovan acting foreign affairs minister, diplomacy head of Denmark tackle Moldovan-Danish relations

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi and Foreign Affairs Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod have referred to the Moldovan-Danish bilateral agenda, Moldova’s European integration process, Transnistrian file, as well as subjects on the regional and international stages, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The two diplomacy heads highlighted the existence of a vast potential of cooperation between the two states and reiterated the need to boost the political dialogue and the commercial and economic cooperation. In this respect, the Moldovan official made an invitation to his Danish counterpart to pay an official visit to Chisinau, to set concrete goals of cooperation in the bilateral political and diplomatic relationship.
At the meeting, the acting prime minister touched upon the domestic situation in Moldova, reforms implemented by the authorities in accordance with the Association Agreement and exchanged opinions with the Danish official on the forthcoming Summit of the Eastern Partnership. Aureliu Ciocoi reiterated that the country’s European integration vector was the principal objective of the domestic and external agenda.
As for the combating of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Moldovan official thanked his Danish counterpart for the recent joint letter by 13 European Union member states, who ask to facilitate the access of the Eastern Partnership states to the anti-Covid-19 vaccine. For his part, Minister Jeppe Kofod said that Denmark would continue, through punctual actions, to back Moldova’s European integration and the agenda of reforms meant to modernize the country.
The sides exchanged opinions on the developments as to the Transnistrian file settlement and the need to continue the efforts to solve this file within the 5+2 format of negotiations.
The phone conversation of the foreign affairs ministers Aureliu Ciocoi and Jeppe Kofod took place ahead of the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Moldovan-Danish diplomatic relations on 20 January 1992.
