Moldovan writer speaks about work carried out in 2020

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 2020 year was an anniversary year for prose writer, essayist and literary researcher Iurie Colesnic, but which did not allow him be happy to a full extent. The last year started with the appearance of the third edition of the volume, Our Unknown Chisinau. Yet, the isolation followed, which he initially liked, as he worked concentrated and productively.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Iurie Colesnic said that he had finished a manuscript started back in 1992 – a book due to be titled Alexandru Plamadeala and the Lesson of Eternity. Colesnic worked at the 12th volume of the Unknown Bessarabia and a big project of the National Library. He also wrote some pages for a monograph about writer Constantin Stere, on which he has been working for several years; this is actually the subject of his doctoral thesis, which he is to finish.
At the end of the last year, Iurie Colesnic printed the book, Chisinau of Yesterday and Today, in the Romanian and Russian languages, which is actually a televised project started in 2012.
Iurie Colesnic was born in the Dereneu village, central Calarasi district, on 12 August 1955. In 1977, he graduated from the Mechanics Faculty of the Chisinau-based Poly-technical Institute (now Moldovan Technical University). In 1980, he debuted with poems for children, followed by many other books of poems both for children and adults. Colesnic edited over 60 books: monographs, encyclopedias,, including 11 volumes of Unknown Bessarabia and the third edition of the volume Our Unknown Chisinau has been recently published.
In 2000, he was elected member of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management from Kiev, Ukraine. In the same year, Colesnic was awarded the honorific title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Chisinau-based Humanistic University and in 2010 – the honorific title of Master of Literature. In 2000, Iurie Colesnic was awarded the Saint Daniil Medal, in 2010 – the Dimitrie Cantemir Medal and in 2016 – the Order of Honour. Colesnic is laureate of the National Prize (2018) and more literary awards from Moldova and Romania.
