Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has met His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium at the end of an official visit to Brussels, the presidential press service has reported.
President Maia Sandu thanked the King for the fact that Belgium had been a constant supporter of the processes of domestic transformation in Moldova. At the same time, the head of state said that Belgium during years had backed Moldova both at the bilateral level and through the position adopted within EU on strategic issues, as well as through the role played within the European Union as country which hosts most European institutions.
„I discussed with His Majesty the regional situation and the dynamic of the domestic reforms from Moldova, the Moldova-Belgium bilateral relations, as well as possibilities of closer cooperation with the Belgian authorities in the common interest of the two countries. I stressed the fact that Belgium had become the second home for many of Moldova’s fellow countrymen and that this fact is an extra reason and argument of rapprochement between our countries,’’ Maia Sandu said following the meeting with King Philippe of Belgium.
