Four settlements of south Moldova district to have access to quality water due to EU's support in 2021

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The residents of the Iargara town and the villages Cupcui, Filipeni, Romanovca and Sarata Noua from the southern Leova district in 2021 will get sure access to quality drinking water, due to the European Union’s assistance and contribution of local public authorities, according to the South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud).    

At a meeting recently held in Leova, decision-makers established that, on the immediately next period, the mayors would bring the message to the settlements managed and would correctly and transparently inform the citizens on the need of their co-participation in local budgets and successful carrying out of the works within the project, Improvement of services of supply with water of the settlements Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui.

To this end, the local councils of the beneficiary communities are to adopt, as soon as possible, decisions on allocation of needed financial sources for the designing of additional volumes of works. Subsequently, ADR Sud will sign with the mayors of the beneficiary settlements and the contractor entrepreneur additional agreements for the carrying out of the supplementary works within the project.

"For the financer, in this case for the European Union, which backs this important infrastructure project in the South Development Region, the contribution of the local administration and citizens matters a lot and is quite necessary. Thus, it is believed that the financial participation of those for whose benefit the investment projects are implemented unites the citizens and make them more responsible, develop their civic spirit and motivate them for development and a better living,’’ the director of ADR Sud, Maria Culesov, said.   

The investment measure, Improvement of the services of supply with water of the settlements Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui, is financed by the European Union and implemented in cooperation with the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova. The project is managed by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ Moldova), in partnership with the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, financially backed by the government of Romania.
