About 50 schools from south Moldova Gagauz autonomy to benefit from better education

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The teachers and pupils from 47 schools of the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia, as well as their parents will benefit from a better education, as a result of a pilot project, the goal of which is to improve the quality of the online education. The pilot project is financed and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Comrat executive committee.   

„We appreciate the partnership with the executive committee of UTA Gagauzia and the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, their dedication to attenuate the impact on education and the pressure felt by teachers, parents and pupils. UNDP will contribute with know-how, knowledge and enhanced capacity for a better environment of studying in the Gagauz autonomy, in particular, and in Moldova, in general,’’ UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Dima Al-Khatib said.      

The project has a budget of 200,000 dollars and will be implemented till 2022. The project is set to facilitate a process of efficient education through implementing the e-learning approach in UTA Gagauzia, ensuring the presence of the connection and infrastructure of basic modern technologies (hard and soft) and improving the content of learning and methodology of teaching.   

„During the epidemic, which threats the mankind, we have joined efforts to ensure a qualitative education process. Due to this project, teachers, pupils, as well as their parents will easier go through this difficult pandemic period. For a long term, the knowledge got by the teachers will advance the education system in UTA Gagauzia to a qualitatively new level,’’ the governor of UTA Gagauz-Yeri, Irina Vlah, said.   

UNDP will back the schools from the pilot-region to become more resilient and continue their activity in crisis situations, so that they can further provide education services not only online, but also in classrooms.
