Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Supreme Security Council (CSS) today held a meeting in its new composition. The meeting was chaired by President Maia Sandu, who urged the leaders of the law-enforcement institutions to take attitude and work to finish the files on corruption and money laundering.
In her speech, the head of state said that she had certain ‘’reserves as to the leaders of some state institutions, members of this Council and said that she reserved the right not to invite them to some meetings.
„I have some doubts about the integrity of some CSS members and I assume not to invite them to certain discussions when I believe that there is conflict of interest. CSS will be the platform where the domestic and external risks of the state will be discussed. Here, at CSS, each institution will speak about its actions or inactions and will come up to be responsible for this. We have the fame of the most corrupt country from the region. Nowhere 12 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has been stolen. Nowhere money launderings bigger that the GDP by several times have been made. I am surprised that some leaders do not make the connection between the institutions they lead and people’s dramas. I have not seen any file on big corruption carried through,’’ Sandu said.
She specified that, because of the corruption, thousands of children were living without their parent by their side and more than one million of Moldovans had to leave abroad to work. Sandu urged civil servants, who do not do their job efficiently for various reasons, to leave and let their posts be held by others. ‘’The system which has allowed perpetuation of corruption for years will no longer last. The people will take to streets and will punish you just as they can do this,’’ Maia Sandu added.
