Moldovan acting PM meets OSCE special representative for Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting with the special representative of the OSCE chairmanship-in-office for Transnistrian settlement, Thomas Mayr-Harting, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The sides tackled a wide spectrum of subjects on the 2021 year agenda of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. Among the key priorities, there are: ensuring the assistance for the protection of the fundamental human rights and freedoms and reestablishment of the free movement to and from the Transnistrian region; maintaining a positive dynamic on the platforms of negotiations; creating proper premises for summoning a new official round in the 5+2 format; implementing the agreements from the so-called Berlin plus package and the settlement of the most urgent problems in the interest of the residents from both banks of Dniester, etc.
The officials also discussed the need to remove all obstacles introduced in the Transnistrian region in the context of the pandemic.
The acting PM noted that the Moldovan government spoke out for maintaining a dynamic and constructive dialogue, oriented to the residents’ interests. Aureliu Ciocoi stressed that the institution relied on the support of the OSCE chairmanship-in-office, in order to solve the problems which hit the residents from both banks of Dniester with joint efforts.
In 2021, Sweden holds the OSCE chairmanship.
