Meteorologists inform about Orange Code of complicated weather conditions in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about an Orange Code and Yellow Code, in the northern region, of complicated weather conditions for 27-28 January.  

According to meteorologists, given the movement of a southern cyclone, on the aforementioned period, complicated weather conditions are expected in Moldova. ‘’Heavy precipitation in form of sleet and snow are forecast in most regions, the  northern wind will intensify, gusting to 15-20 metres/second. Snow storm is expected, with snow drifts andglazed frost on roads,’’ SHS said.

In the context, rescuers warn residents to take into account the weather warnings and not to set out, if it is not necessary. At the same time, drivers are urged to properly equip their transport means, compulsorily with special winter tyres, including reserve ones, and they have to keep a shovel, sand, water and food in the boot.

Specialists recommend that people who choose to set out should have their mobile phone’s battery charged and call the 112 emergency Service in case of risk.  

In case of Orange Code, the weather conditions pose real danger, dangerous phenomena of high intensity are forecast, which can negatively influence the social and economic activities and can cause substantial material damage and human victims.
