USAID-supported project to help farmers access new markets

Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/- "Increasing export capacities of Moldovan companies in the high value agri-food sector to access new markets" is the title of a project launched today by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID ). One of the key activities of the project is the Exporter's Academy.
The basic goal of the project implemented with the support of the USAID High Value Agriculture project in Moldova is to contribute to the development of a performing agricultural sector in the Republic of Moldova by increasing the theoretical knowledge, skills and practical abilities of staff involved in marketing activities. and export of agri-food products with high added value ", CCI deputy head Mihai Bîlba said.
"Given the importance of agriculture for the economy of the Republic of Moldova, USAID is pleased to be the partner of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in launching the Export Academy for high-performing companies in Moldova. Last year, despite the pandemic and the drought, Moldovan producers continued to develop in non-traditional markets, with a high value ", said Scott Hocklander, USAID Moldova Mission Director.
The Exporter's Academy includes a lot of trainings and several thematic master-classes on the legislation, regulations and export procedures of high value-added agri-food products, as well as individual mentoring and guidance services on foreign markets, for enterprises in this sector. Participants will also have the opportunity to promote their products in foreign markets through the business opportunities database of the Enterprise Europe Network. The highest performing enterprises will be selected to participate in the Moldova-Austria Manager Qualification Increase Program, including the study visit to Austria.
Applications for the program can be submitted before 11 February. The project is expected to be completed this autumn.
The USAID High Value Agriculture Project in Moldova in 2016-2021 aims to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector to boost economic growth and change in rural areas, increasing the well-being of the inhabitants of our country. To achieve this goal, the project together with agricultural entrepreneurs, associations of irrigation water users and other partners contribute to increasing the profitability per hectare of agricultural land, increasing the quality and productivity of crops, increasing local and international sales and encouraging partnerships in the agricultural sector.
