French mission to come to Moldova to identify areas of assistance

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/- The bilateral relations between Moldova and France, as well as the interest in strengthening the partnership between the countries at political, economic and social level were the key issues of a meeting between Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, the presidential press service has reported.
"I thanked France for supporting Moldova over the years and voiced hope that this relationship will be fostered. At the same time, we discussed the need to advance negotiations on the signing of several intergovernmental agreements that are, above all, in the interest and benefit of citizens - conversion of driving licenses, social security, recognition of diplomas ", Sandu said.
In terms of the current situation in Moldova, the president said as priorities the way out of the political stalemate through snap polls and a government with full powers. Another priority is the response to the pandemic crisis. Therefore Maia Sandu asked the French authorities to help access the Covid-19 vaccine faster.
Jean-Yves Le Drian assured the official of France's support and noted that the two countries will jointly seek solutions to the problems. To this end, in March, a French mission will come to Chisinau to identify areas of assistance.
In the same context, the need to strengthen economic and sectoral cooperation was pointed out, given the growth potential and cooperation in culture and education. Thus, they addressed the importance of continuing the project on bilingual classes and general promotion of the French language among young people in Moldova.
