Business people from France show interest in investing in Moldova

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, on her working visit to Paris, today met representatives of the French business environment and the leadership of the biggest employers’ organization from France - MEDEF (Mouvement des Entreprises de France). The discussions were focused on the economic realities from Moldova and the strategic directions of common interest.
According to the Presidency’s press service, the head of state referred to Moldova’s development priorities, her vision on the country’s future, improvement of the business environment through combating the corruption and justice reform, as well as the economic advantages of investing in Moldova.
The sides also discussed potential sectors of common interest, such as investments in the renewable energy, medical sector or civil aviation. President Maia Sandu appreciated the interest of the French business representatives in the level of Moldova’s digitalization and the strategies existing in this field.
Because of the pandemic restrictions, a small number of companies participated in the meeting, well-known ones, such as Alstom, Airbus Hélicoptères, Orange, Eco Delta, GE Capital, Oberthur Chash Protection, ADEPTA/GNIS, Société Geismar, L3G, IN Group, Veolia, TECOFI. ‘’I am glad that most of you are interest either in being initiated or in extending investments in Moldova. We will make efforts, so that this happens as soon as possible,’’ the Moldovan president said.
As many as 233 enterprises with French capital work in Moldova. According to data by the National Bank of Moldova, the overall foreign direct investments from France in Moldova amounted to 197.55 million dollars in 2019.
