Agriculture ministry presents to EU Mission priorities on financial assistance for Moldova over next 7 years

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/- The leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) participated yesterday in an online meeting with the European Union Mission and approached financial assistance for Moldova in the next seven years.
The sides discussed the Multiannual Indicative Plan 2021 - 2027 due to be set up by the European Union and will present the priority areas of Moldova. Also, the Plan will reflect the financial assistance provided for our country in the reference period to meet the goals.
Thus, the ministry representatives noted "the institution aims primarily at modernizing the agricultural sector and rural development by developing value-added sectors, increasing export potential, reducing the vulnerability of the agricultural sector to climate hazards and promoting organic farming ”. Improving the quality of life in rural areas is also on the agenda of MADRM, including the diversification of economic activities in rural areas.
In terms of environmental protection - "efforts are being strengthened to complete institutional reform in the sector to organize efficient administration that will take responsibility for implementing and implementing the acquis communautaire ”. To meet the goals of the European Green Agreement, Moldova will continue cooperation with EU institutions in applying the principles of the circular economy, strengthening the management of water resources of our country, creating water quality monitoring centers and strengthening institutional capacities.
In the regional development sector, MADRM officials said that a new Regional Development Strategy will be set up for 2021-2027, a document focused on four pillars: the competitiveness of development regions; urban development; water supply and sewerage; cross-border cooperation.
To achieve the Multiannual Indicative Plan 2021 - 2027, the European Union Mission is to discuss with the management teams of four ministries, the relevant institutions and the representatives of the civil society. Previously, the EU Mission held talks with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
