Moldovan acting PM participates in meeting of heads of government from Eurasian Economic Union countries

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today participated in a meeting of the heads of government from the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries, in a videoconference format. Moldova has a status of observer in this regional organization, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In his speech, the acting PM stressed the importance of these inter-governmental meetings, as they have a significant role in the opening of new opportunities for the development and boosting of the commercial and economic relations between states.
„On a period when the pandemic triggered serious consequences on the regional and global economy, Moldova has an enhanced interest in the further development and strengthening of the trade and economic ties with its partners, including the Eurasian Economic Union countries. This approach opens additional opportunities for the export of Moldovan goods, many of which are already well-known by our traditional partners,’’ Aureliu Ciocoi said.
The acting prime minister noted that, despite the pandemic crisis and the political instability, the Moldovan government was intensely working to create friendly conditions for the digitalization of all sectors of the economy and consolidation of the IT sector, stimulation of startups, investments’ attraction and giving new possibilities to the young generation.
Starting from 1 January 2021, the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union has been held by Kazakhstan.
