Moldovan president has meeting with Speaker of French Senate

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s European vocation, the extension and diversification of the Moldovan-French bilateral relations at diverse levels, fostering of the economic cooperation have been some of the subjects discussed by President Maia Sandu at a meeting with Speaker of the French Senate Gérard Larcher and members of the France-Moldova friendship group of the Senate, the presidential press service has reported.
At the meeting, Maia Sandu appreciated the friendship relation between the two states and thanked France for the support of reforms in Moldova. The head of state also informed French senators about her vision on Moldova’s European future. ‘’I reiterated our country’s determination to be a reliable partner on the foreign stage, to turn to good account the opportunities provided by the Eastern Partnership and strengthen the Moldovan-French friendship relations,’’ Sandu noted.
The French partners showed interest in the current political developments in Moldova, as well as in the regional context. At the same time, they assured that Moldova can rely on the support of France for the carrying out of the democratic and economic reforms, observance of human rights and combating corruption, as well as for strengthening the key sectors: justice, health and education.
President Maia Sandu paid a working visit to France on 3-4 February, where she met more officials, including President of France Emmanuel Macron.
