Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - The 2020 year was a year full of contrasts, one absolutely special for fine artist Galina Vieru and she overcame the tension and fear through art.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Galina Vieru said that the pandemic had given her time for meditation, for writing and certainly, for colour. She painted every day of this pandemic, in order not to feel the latter’s sorrow. Vieru travelled all over Moldova, looking for architectural jewelry and new landscapes; she illustrated a book with stories for children titled, Seeds of Heaven, and wrote about Moldova and its people as much as possible.
Galina Vieru said that she had overcome the psychological tension and fear through art, along with her family, being in a continuous creation process. She taught her children to see the beauty in everything, to find it everywhere and now she is proud when her sons, while running on old streets, show her houses worth being painted, landscapes or small elements which inspire.
”I wanted an exhibition in 2020; yet, the works prepared for the latter flew all over Europe, some of them crossing oceans, as Moldovans who left abroad return home with soul and thought through painting. Time is ripe for us to be proud with our identity, to pour water to roots, as beyond our chronic poverty, we have a national treasure worth being envied, as it deserves to be showed to the world and reflected in all fields of the art,’’ the fine artist said.
Galina Vieru was born in the Putintei village, central Orhei district, in 1983. She graduated from the Fine Arts and Design Faculty of the Chisinau-based Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University (2000-2005). She studied for master’s degree at the same institution (2005-2006). In 2000-2007, Vieru worked as teacher of fine art education at the Nicolae Balcescu theoretical lyceum from Chisinau, as well as at the Univers Moldova vocational school, where she taught design. In 2007-2013, Galina Vieru was lecturer at the Perspectiva INT University, vestimentary design department. In 2012-2014, Vieru had personal exhibitions at Moldova’s National Library, Organ Hall, B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library, Romania’s Consulate in Chisinau, Palace Hall from Bucharest, etc. In 2014, she edited a collection of poems titled, The Wednesday of Autumn.
