Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will launch this month a new project for digitizing ATA Carnet - customs document that simplifies temporary export and transit of goods in international trade.
The project is funded by the EBRD and aims to simplify the procedure for requesting and issuing ATA Carnets. Within the project, on the CCI online platform www.client.chamber.md, a new module will be set up that will allow economic agents and individuals to submit applications online, and CCI specialists to complete the Carnet based on documents submitted electronically.
"The ATA module will be connected to the MSign and Mpay government services, which will allow the signing of electronically signed applications and the payment of online services. The digitization of the process will reduce the time and expenses of entrepreneurs and will also bring the Republic of Moldova closer to the international electronic ATA (e-ATA) system promoted by the International Chamber of Commerce and the World Customs Organization. This system provides for the replacement of paper notebooks with electronic ones and is currently piloted in six countries, including Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, the USA," sources in CCI said.
Moldova joined the international ATA system in 2008. The ATA carnet is an international customs document, issued by the ICC, as an issuing and guaranteeing institution, based on which goods in temporary export and transit regime move freely, according to a simplified customs procedure. The ATA carnet is most often requested by companies and individuals who participate in fairs and exhibitions, professionals from different fields, who can move freely with its professional equipment. CCI issues about 180 Carnets annually.
