Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, at a todays’ news conference, informed that ‘’she was ready to vaccinate anti-COVID, just as example for the citizens who might be worried about this vaccine.’’ Yet, according to Sandu, the preparation should initially be used for the most exposed people.
„Let us see, the vaccine should first be brought. There are people who need the vaccine more than me and here I mean especially the first-line physicians; they are the first who must have access to vaccine. Let us see the volume of the first consignment of vaccines. I am ready to vaccinate only just as example or as proof for the citizens who might be worried out this vaccine. But we should go to the most exposed people,’’ Sandu said.
The Moldovan president also said that, in early this year, the request to COVAX had been corrected, so that Moldova can buy vaccine, not only receive donation.
According to the health sector authorities, the first consignments of vaccine might reach Moldova in mid-February. It is about 24,570 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 264,000 doses produced by Oxford/AstraZeneca. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry received the confirmation of the delivery of vaccines on behalf of the COVAX platform on 30 January. The Romanian leadership has earlier said that it would donate Chisinau 200,000 doses of anti-COVID vaccine.
